Tranny Pan Option

Does anyone know if Ford or an aftermarket manufacturer makes a transmission pan that comes with a drain plug for the V8 AWD's? I believe it's the 4R70W Tranny.

You can add the drain plug yourself relatively easily. B&M and many others offer them. You should be able to find them at most auto parts stores.

Trans Pan Drainplug

Mr. Gasket makes a plug kit. Part # 4470
Very easy to install after the pan is off. You will need a 1/2" drill bit. I have added the drain plug to both my vehicles and it makes a fluid change very simple with no mess.
The Thunderbird site, www.tccoa.com has a very lengthy article on Ford overdrive transmissions. They list a Ford part # for a trans pan with a plug that supposedly fits AODE/4R70W. I may get it this winter, as a would like to put a trans temp. gauge in the stang.
