Last night I shifted into OD like I always do, but I accidentally pushed down on the accelerator before it was in gear, and next thing you know. My truck chirps the tires and I go nowhere. OverDrive, Drive, 3rd and 1st I can shift into with the shifter knowb, but it wont engage it and let me drive, but somehow my reverse works, and when I put it in Park it locks like normal. I hear this nasty sound when I put it in reverse, but I hardly dropped any fluid it looks like. Its goin into the shop as we speak, but I wanna know what could have happened, like detailed. Cause I believe I spun my lower gears, and not the clutch plate I think is what its called, because its gotta have a plate that locks and unlocks on the gear plates. And it catches in reverse...So anyone know anything? How much itll cost, what happened?

Are you positive you did not shift into reverse by accident? Tires chirping might have been lockign and sliding. That could easily have done the damage you are describing.

Positive because I was parked while waiting behind traffic from fireworks, and i go down 3 spaces for od.

something kinda similar just happened to me last night

when i was driving up a hill suddenly the car just stopped moving and the drive gear became like neutral no other gears work except park. i dont know what it is yet though

Any wacky noises? Planetaries by any chance? Drop the pan and check how the fluid looks, it may be full of shards, mine had a couple cups worth of metal shards.

Either way your more then likely going to have to get the tranny rebuilt... but wait for other members to reply before going ahead with it since im not all that experienced.
