tranny pump tool

5r55w tranny, do i really need the tool to install the pump? i just finshed rebuilding the tranny and someone told me i need a pump tool to align the pump gears? what am i really aligning, is it for the tq or does the pump kinda have like a timing gear or somthing?

it has 3 holes that need to align to the case, you can just use the bolts to get it in tho.

The pump gears need to be aligned or it will ruin the gears, bushing, seal, and the hub on the torque converter.

They might do it for you if you give them a few dollars.

The front pump, bolts, bell housing, and cash. You might want to replace the front seal while it's already out.

i was reading online and they said i need the alignment tool when i am rebuilding the front pump. so my ? is i bought i used front pump do i still need to aling the front pump with the tool? i know how to aling the pump to the tranny and i know how to install the tc to the tranny so am i all set or do i still need the tool?

You will need the tool to align the pump.

sorry brook i must be dum. so the tool is to align the gears inside the pump right? so why cant the tc just align it?

The tool is specifically designed to align the gears. The end of the torque converter doesn't always align it properly. Some members have tried it already. A misaligned pump could damage the torque converter, bell housing, and the pump.

Loosen the bolts, insert the tool, then tighten the bolts.

i am so sorry brook i am not getting it. do i have to align the pump out of the tranny or in the tranny? what bolts are you talking about? the bolts on the back of the pump or the front?

so i bought the tool for 100 but i still dont get it and i dont wanna get anyone md at me lol. i was reading you have to loose the bolts back of the pump then use the tool. alldata says install the pump install the tool then tight up the bolts. lol i am lost

lol i know but is that the back bolts or the front bolts and plus do you have to do this everytime you remove the tranny??
