I was just wandering if my tranny (A4LD) would let me shift into reverse or into park while doing highway speeds. Weird question I know, but I was just wandering that if some1 wanted to severly piss you off and was in the truck with you if they could grenade your tranny by throwin the column up a few notches while goin down the highway, haha. Either that scenario or if you somehow (dunno how you would but ya never know..) accidentally hit it up while drivin. I know it won't let me downshift too early (with an auto) but I'm never gonna be stupid enough to try to lock it up doin 60 MPH, heh.

Yes, apparently it is possible to shift into reverse:

What a crock..

That's crappy.. they made cars in the sixties that prevented the tranny from changing gears, other than forward gears, while the car was moving too fast. You'd think most, if not all trannys would keep it from doing so since. Has any1 else had expirience doing something like this? It still might not let you do it if you get over 5 or 10 MPH.

Once I accidentally bumped the shifter while going about 35 mph. The shifter went almost into reverse and the truck just shut itself off. No damage. Dunno if this was a fluke or reverse lockout.

Have you tried shift into 1-st gear while going 80 mph on a highway? Nothing would happen. The truck won't engage the gear untill you slow down enough to drive on a first. I guess something like that should happen if you put it into R or P, but I wouldn't try that. :D
