Hi Everyone, I've got a bit of a problem with the tranny on my wife's Explorer. It's a 2000 EB with 50,000 miles on it. The other night the 2-3 shift seemed to be slipping. Yesterday I replaced the tranny fluid and filter but it's still doing it. This morning my wife said the O/D light was blinking on the way to work and it wouldn't shut off. Anybody have any ideas?

Thanks,
Bob

Welcome!

I'd get the tranny checked, sounds like your torque converter may be going out. I like Cottman Transmissions. Good luck!

Well we ran the codes on the PCM and came up with a P0733 code. Any ideas what would cause this or possible causes for this?

Thanks,
Bob

P0733 Improper Ratio For Third Gear.

It is a 3-4 shift error. The affected componant are Shift solenoid A or B or internal tranny parts. An engine rpm drop was not detected when the 3-4 shift was commanded by the PCM.

Improper gear selection depending on failure mode and transmission range selector lever position. Refer to Shift Solenoid Operation. Shift errors may also be due to other internal transmission concerns such as stuck valves or damaged friction material. Hope this helps.

Well here's the latest. I took the truck to the dealer today and they said that the valve body was bad and it would cost $1000 to replace it. Then I called a tranny shop and he said the valve body woudn't cause the weird shifting from 2nd to 3rd and the tranny would need a rebuild. I have no idea what to do now.
