We r broke bad. Tranny is stuck in nuetral. Shifted into 4wd and tranny got stuck in neutral. No gears. Clutch does nothing. Took off shift motor and spun transfer case spindle around manually into 2wd etc. but no effect. Bled clutch fully through a couple of times and still nothing.

Kinda out of ideas here. Last time this happened removing the shift motor and spinning the transfer by hand worked. This time nothing....

Help... if you all have any ideas.....

I am a bit confused...

Is the transfer case stuck or the transmission stuck? You are sort of giving conflicting information.

If the transfer case is stuck in neutral, you can shift it manually by removing the 3 screws from the electric motor (plus the additional one that fastenes the support braket to the t-case) and then twisting the stup shaft that comes out of the T-case to the clockwise position. Make sure that the transmission is in neutral to do that - and have someone step on the brakes when you do. Engine running is best...

If on the other hand, the manual transmission is stuck in neutral, you could have a couple different issues. First, the clutch may be messed up (or the throw out bearing - slave cylinder) or second, the shifter might be broken where the ball engages the shift rail, or third, the shft forks may be broken inside the tranny. Any of the transmission issues will require disasembly to repair.

Already tried removing the shift motor and rotating shaft manually. no help.

The tranny /transfer case both unnafected by manually spinning the shaft on the back of transfer case. Bled the clutch (slave) no help. not sure about the throwout being good/bad as I have never torn apart a hydraulic clutch before.

Essentially transfer case is stuck in neutral which of course leaves the tranny unable to do anything. Any help here would be greatly appreciated... we r dead in the water here and although its a great offroad its also primary transportation.....

Thanks ... Big D

Ok. If the transfer case is stuck in neutral, then that has nothing to do with the clutch or transmission. You likely have a broken chain or shift fork in the t-case.

You will have to pull it to find out what is happening.

BTW, did you try draining and re-filling it with fresh oil? I have found that the t-case easily fills with water when playing in water holes, and that will casue it to slip.
