Tranny surging when coasting .

Just bought a used 04 xlt with 103000 miles on it . it drove like a dream all weekend . This morning on the way to work it start acting up . when I would be off the gas (coasting) the tranny would kinda jump or surge or maybe its the engine not sure . I alo notice the battery light blinking though not steady like maybe a loose wire or something . Any Ideas ?

Given the battery light, first thing I'd do is have the alternator checked out along with the battery.
