Trans-Anyone Ever Tried this...

I recently saw a external auto trans filter. Screwed on/off like a conventional oil filter and installed in the cooler line. About $75-$80. Has anyone ever tried one of these things? Are they worth it? Would they help the life of the earlier Explorer automatic transmissions? Any comments. Jim

Havent got one on my explorer but do have one on another truck of mine. No problems with it. It adds a little fluid capacity- less than a qt, and the surface area of the filter provides a little cooling. I plan to add one to my Navajo when I put a larger cooler in later this summer.

Simple to install took an hour or so. But $80 sounds high thinlk I spent maybe $40 for a B&M unit from Summit.
