Just acquired (for free) a 99 Explorer with the 5.0 and auto. It only has reverse, no forward gears at all. My other 99 with the sohc motor and 5 spd auto had the valve body gasket blowout issue which I repaired. Does the 5.0 have the 4r70 w trans? And is it susceptible to the same valve body gasket issue?

update: was way low on trans fluid, over a quart. Actually got it to move forward and it has a shudder along with slippage if you try to accelerate to aggressively but I was able to get it to traffic speed 30 mph or so. Fluid doesnt smell the best but I've seen worse. The P O just didnt do any maintenance.
