First, let me say I have read many posts and understand that these trans have lots of issues, but I am confused as to how to correct the problems with mine.
It is a 00 Ranger,4.0 auto, 2wd quad cab,w/ 89,000 and was running o.k. until a couple days ago. All of a sudden, when you go to take off,the truck shifts HARD. Only seems to do it on the 1-2 upshift if you are taking off slow- moderate. if you are taking off fast it does not do it nearly as bad. This has gone on for two days now. I checked the fluid it looks good. it is the right level, does not appear burnt. We have only had this truck for like 12,000 miles, so I do not know it's full history, but we do not use it to tow or anything like that.
Today, my wife went to take it to school, and the o/d light is flashing and says od off? Anyone give any advice on how to go about fixing this ? I understand this means there is a trouble code stored but how do you pull this code to see what it is? Any and all help greatly appreciated! TIA!
