If its not a big highway driver i would look into a c4 swap,if your going through trans like that

unfortunately i take the highway and hit high speeds ever day with it, its the only way to travel around here

but maybe a swap is in order? any others that would fit right up in?

Ebay sells lots of kits for the A4LD. I recently purchased a super master rebuild kit for less than $200 for it. Depending on what was wrong with yours, there are soft kits for as low as $100 on E-bay. $500 (parts & labor) sounds pretty good to me for a rebuilt trans. Rather install a rebuilt trans, then take a chance on a Junkyard trans myself.

For a swap, a M5OD manual will work.

M5 or chevy 700r is the best swap possible but the most expensive.the question should be why you are going through trannys so fast.yes they are POS but should last longer than that.maybe spend a little more and get a heavy duty kit.i still run my a4 and i run the crap out of it and had no problems but i run a stage 2 kit and if i knew at the time i would have went stage 3 ,all heavy duty.but again i wheel the crap out of my d35 and people say 36x14.50 and 4.88s it wouldn't last one trip soo...

idk why im going though them so fast, its weird, a new trans about every 5 years sucks. if i go with a 5 speed from a sport wouldnt i need to change the crankshaft? i geuss id go with a stage 3 kit if i could get it for a good enough price. the trans just slips like crazy in first and second gear until i rev it up to 4000-5000 rpms. any ideas what it could be? this happened last time too

You checked the bands.and no a 5speed uses the same crank

o.O thats all foreign to me. what are the bands? maybe ill look into a 5 speed swap.

Search on here.i bet they just need to be tightened.5speed is a great swap if like 5speeds and will save you gas

ok thank you so much just ordered a torque wrench to try this out, hope it works

Hope it was inch lbs.should be a good cheap place to start.if not that link has real good rebuild kits if you plan on keeping the a4

ok........ i think the trans just blew lol was driving home and the truck just cut off and lost steering and brakes. kinda scary. my dad says it could be the neutral safety switch, but my question is, where is it located and what are the symptoms of it being broken? my truck wont start and it only turns over in park. after its done cranking over i hear a clunk from the floor boards. my dad wants to crush her now and i just cant let that happen, love the truck too much no matter how ****ty she is lol
