Transfer case problems.

Ive got a 1997 mercury mountaineer i think my transfer case is slipping so i was wondering if i take out my front drive shaft would that fix it for a while or will i still have the popping and clunking. i can see it where the front drive shaft goes in the transfer case when it clanks

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the transmissions & transfer cases section. Don't remove the front driveshaft. Fix the transfer case.
