What is the Borg Warner numder for the 1996 Ex's and the 1997 Ex's?I had my trans changed and it seems as though there is a crossmember missing that would go under the transfer case.I could see the places on the frame where it was, but it's not there. Were there different designs between these years? The lot I bought my ex from picked up the trans and paid to have it installed, because I am recovering from being hit by a drunk driver. I am wondering because it feels as though the 4x4 is engaging at low speed while turning. And the torqie converter locks up erratically sometimes it locks up other times it wont.It doesn't matter warm or cold it acts the same.Sometimes I can go 35miles or more without the o/d light flashing, sometimes I don't get out of the driveway. Thanks for the help.

The engaging of the 4x4 on low speed turns is probably because of low fluid in the transfer case. Mine did that when I bought my 97. Found the rear seal had been leaking and there was only a pint of fluid in it. Supposed to be almost 2 quarts. This wet clutch sticks in slow turns when the fluid is low.

thats not a crossmember you are missing its the skid plate for the t-case. the tranny supports all the weight from the t-case (trust me i know, all to well) and im pretty sure your t-case ID is 4404, not positive tho.

I went out and looked at it again last night and figured out that it was a skid plate as there isn't anywhere to place a mount on the transfer case. The numbers on the t-case are 4405.I'll check the level in there and try that thanks to everyone.
