Hello. I am new to this forum. I have a '96 Explorer Sport v6 4.0. I recently started having problems with the transmission. First: it would slip between 2nd and 3rd gear. That only went on for about two days, then everything worked fine. Now: when you take off from a complete stop, the truck will not accelerate normally. The engine goes to about 2500 rpm's, but will just accelerate slowly. The truck runs and shifts fine in all other gears. I would appreciate any help I can get on this issue. Thanks

It's slipping. What does the fluid look/smell like? Is the level correct? How many miles?

Might be time for a rebuild.

Mine does the EXACT same thing. i changed the tranny fluid and that didn't help so i just started beating on it and now its fine. I don't recommend beating it but some cars like it a lil rough.......
