Transmission problems.

I have a 1999 Explorer EB with the 5.0 V8. The transmission just stopped working while driving. I can put the gear selector in park but when I select any of the gears, there is no response. What's going on?

Well i can tell you to go ahead and take off the transmission pan off and see if anything is out of the ordinary i found a big piece of broken metal in my pan that explains my problems. And if anything take it into a pro.

transmission troubles

I have a 1999 Explorer EB with the 5.0 V8. While driving, I experienced a sensation of the engine slightly revving up and then a soft thump. I pressed on the gas pedal and nothing happened. I can select any gear and there is no response. However I can put the gear selector in park and the vehicle won't move. Do I replace the shift control solenoid or the manual lever position sensor? Please advise.
