Hello, I'm new to this but need help, 97 ford ranger 4.0 4wd trouble code P1744. Shifts hard downshifting as well as up but it comes and goes lately its been doing it frequently and if I shut the engine off then restart it it goes away for awhile also if I run it above about 65 on the freeway it will start doing it. the explaination I have for that code is "Torque converter clutch solenoid circuit performance" can anyone translate that for me. Tranny shops around here are no help they just tell you the trans is going to fail soon and I better let them rebuild it right away
