I searched the forum but all I could find was cold starting. I don't know what the problem is but when I crank up my explorer, it will turn over and turn over but won't start. I try it again and it starts right up. What could be the problem? Starter? Low voltage? Fuel Pump? I have no idea and it's really starting to get annoying. Any ideas what it could be?

You can take the starter out of the equation because you say it is turning over. My guess would be to look at the fuel supply. Be careful just letting the starter crank or you will be needing one. If you crank it over 6 times and it doesnt start turn the key off and try it again.

Well if it doesnt crank the first time then it ALWAYS cranks the second time. By fuel supply do you mean the pump or the filter or possibly clogged lines?

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue, either a clogged fuel filter, or most likely, the check valve in the fuel pump is leaking. You need to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to the shrader valve and monitor your fuel pressure after the engine is turned off. If it declines rapidy, you're likely looking at having to replace the fuel pump to fix the problem. I'm having the same issue with my 99, is your's a V8?

Try turning the key to the 'on' position 3 times before trying to start it. If it starts right up, then it's a fuel pressure problem.
