I just changed the solenoids in my a4ld. Since the change I finally get 4th gear. I can also cgange from d to od at 65 and it works. Heres the problem. While going up a small hill could not accelerate even with pedal to the floor. While driving around today I discovered some other issues. I checked my fluud level this morning as nd it was good. But when I started driving in od truck wouldnt shift out of 1st. So I dropped into d and had no problems. So I headed to the highway got up to 60 dropped it into od and slowly got up to 70 before comming to a hill and the truck slowed to 50. After getting over the hill truck slowly got back up to 70. Still in od. I took the next exit and while slowing down around 25 the truck shuddered. So at the stop sign I put it back in drive and had no issues with anything.

Now the only things I changed was the 2 solenoids and I know they arr working because I haven't had 4th gor 3 years and now I do. Same with the od. I also changed to a wick filter which is s first for me. It seemed that the tube was really close to the pan. Is it possable I got a wrong one.

And my wife would like me to add that when we turn or hit a bump "she" can hear a small whin from the tranny.

This transmission has 3 different types of filters. Have the store double check what they sold you. Did you replace the O ring seals on the filter? One is large, and the other is small. Adjust the bands, kickdown cable, and the modulator (if you have the adjustable version). Check the vacuum line going to the modulator for cracks or signs of leaking fluid.

rgr that. Thank you. Ill look into these. Replaced the o rings when I didt. Checked the modulator its the basic one, seems good. Ill get the bands done tomorrow and check into the filters

Ok so this is what I discovered. I didnt plug the tranny back in. Yeah yeah iam an idiot I know. Problem fixed... kind of. Now it still wont shift 1-2 when cold so iam thinking governor. Also still have a shudder when slowing at about 20-25(ordered the transgo kit) still dosent want to go uphill in od but its fine in d. So tomorrow iam going to finally check my bands.

So when I read that after torque to 120 go back 2 turns, thats like 2 full turns right?. For some reason iam real nervous about doing this.

Also when it goes in to od my rpms drop to like a grand and it sounds like a manual when you shift early. Any ideas?

No I havent yet sir. I had to order an 8 point socket setup so that I can adjust them. As for the governor I havent atempted that yet I ordered the transgo kit and the sonnax boost valve kit. So ill do all that maintenance at the same time.

Ive read alot of yours and glaciers posts and I would like to think i have learned alot. As for the band adjustment I think I know what to do there. Now the governor, should I clean that or replace it if so how to clean or where to find one.

Correct me if iam wrong but It sounds like to me all my symptoms are pretty much cut and dry issues that are discussed by you and glacier quite often.

Sometimes cleaning the governor works if it's not that worn out, but not always. Get a different governor from WWW.Wittrans.Com, and a Sonnax updated 35 MM weight. They have several governors listed on their website, so you might have to match the part number on your governor with a replacement governor.

Ok I closing this out and starting a new thread since iam beginning my vb rebuild.
