trunk/locks wont open

my mom backed into a pole and now has a huge dent in the trunk/back area, it wont open and im thinking the lock is broken or bent. how would i fix this, is there any way i can take the whole rear hatch off?? i will post pics later.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Where do you live?

I have a whole rear hatch I am getting rid of..then you could cut the hatch apart, reach inside and un-latch it manually..and bolt this one on..
