Friend of 97 Mountaineer
Hi All!!
My name is ED and although I drive a Jeep, my good buddy has a 1997 Mountaineer with a slight lift/TT and I have quite a few questions for you guys, because Jeeps are my specialty but we want to get 32x11.5x15's on a 1997 Mountaineer AWD.

1. The TT is not even close to 2" and I would think anything beyond 2" wouldn't be a great idea anyway.
2. I trimmed the fenders and plastics with a Dremel tool and while this eliminated quite a bit of rubbing, there is still some concern.
3. I have spent some time reading old posts on here and a 3" body lift will apparently need a steering extension and some bumper brackets and other parts.
MY QUESTION: I can get a 1" Body Lift for a Jeep that may not need much more hardware or adaptation and I would like to know if this is recommended or if anyone has tried it. I found the link for the "hockey puck" lift, so I am thinking the 1" Performance Accessories spacers should be Ok???

Thanks to all who reply and Happy Wheeling!!!

With the TT you shouldn't really go higher than 2" due to the angle of bind of the CV axles. The body lift does come with the steering extensions but you have to make your own bumper brackets. The bumper brackets diagrams can be found online on this site. Just take it to a metal shop and they can make a set for you.
