I got a coupon in the mail today from Precision Tune Auto Care. For $69 I get:
*Tune Up Verification
*Replace Spark Plugs
*Analyze Emissions Levels
*Adjust timing/Idle speed

Does this sound pretty good? My husband is in the field (hes in the ARMY), so I will be taking care of it myself. Also, since I already bought my own spark plugs, can I have those put in? And will it drop the price down?

The price will drop if you want them to install your own spark plugs but most places won't give you a guarantee or anything. You'll just be paying for labor.

Well, I've never heard of a "tune up varification". You can't adjust the idle speed or timing on your Explorer, it's set by the computer. Emissions levels, again, that's a simple plug and play with a scan tool

So, it would be $69 to install plugs basically. Not really a bad deal. I'm sure they will try and give you some story though. Like, oh you need part X, that will be $400 please. Ugh.

It depends on the shop regarding installing your own plugs. Some shops will, some won't. If they do, I doubt they will drop the price.

Yup, basically you just need a plug *and wire* change. All the other stuff is unnecessary unless the truck isn't running right and/or is putting out smoke or odor from the exhaust.
