when i hit the turn signal lever, the blinker will come on for a few seconds, and then shut off. i thought it might be the multi-function switch(lever), so i replaced it, and it still does not work right. does this sound like a wiring issue? must be right? any suggestions? thanks.

See if the wiring harness is pluged in all the way, The one that gose to the steering colom. Mine did this and it was loose. I pluged it in all the way and it has been fine ever since.

Is it blinking but not clicking? You might have to replace the clicker.

it both clicks and blinks, but only aboyt 2-3 times before it just goes dead. then i have to flick the lever back to it's normal position, and then back to blinking position time and time again until i make my turn. real annoying, and dangerous if i don't do it manually with the lever.

you mean tthe harness that goes into the multifunction switch under the column panels? there are 2. if that is what you mean, i think they are in good, but it may be one of the wires in the harness itself that is loose. not sure what color the blinker one is though.

and yes, the 80 year old amazes me everyday;)

yep thats the one

ok, yes, there are actually 2 harnesses that go to the switch/lever itself. i will have to locate the exact wire out of the mess that is the blinker wire and just see if it is loose going into the harness. that should not be hard, and i would be grateful if that is where the problem is. hopefully nothing is loose down by the firewall or at the other end of the wires, where it could be a pain to get to.

By flasher, I assume you mean hazard lights. The person that originally said your "flasher", I think meant the module not the function. Although you said your "hazards" work fine (I think that's what you meant), that doesn't mean that your flasher is OK. The reason is that there are two feeds from the flasher module, one for hazards and one for signal lights. From your symptoms, it is likely that your flasher module is weak or maybe you have some burnt out bulbs... have you check all of them?

i did mean my hazard lights, i don't even know what the flasher module is. as far as the bulbs are concerned, yes, all my bulbs front and back are fine. plus, like i said, the blinking is not consistent, sometimes it works a whole day without any problems, but mostly, my blinkers are erratic.

I had a flasher problem recently. My left side hazards and flashers stopped working then all flashers failed.
When taking off the panel beneath the steering wheel I had to adjust the steering wheel. After checking the flasher/hazard unit I put the panel back and found that the flashers worked. When I again adjusted the steering wheel the flashers failed. It turns out that when the wheel is in a certain position the flashers stop working, I guess the wheel adjustment is putting a strain on the loom somewhere.
