96, explorer,
1997 Ford explorer turns over but won't start . I just bought it but checked fuel pump it works, battery and alternator are running. I don't have a clue what is going to be next. Any ideas I'm all ears.. so I tried the starter fluid and there lies my dilemma it started but only for a brief moment. So it's definitely fuel related but how do I figure out if it's the fuel pump, filter Or relay I just don't know where to start.

Check to see if it has spark to the plugs. You might be able to test this by unplugging a wire at the plug and, if you have an extra spark plug laying around. plug it into the wire, and using some heavy gloves and a pair of pliers, hold the end of spark plug close to a metal piece, (inside fender or bolt) and have some one crank the engine. See if you can see a spark at the end of the plug.
If no spark it might be your coil pack. There probably is a way to test coil pack but I'm not sure of the procedure.
