Hi,
If there is anyone out there that can help me out with diagnosing the problems.

1. Recently as I am driving (mostly noticed going uphill, but also sometimes straight) that around 1700RPM, 60-100km/hr the trucks does slight jerks, its small but noticeable as if it may stall. It usually stops when i rev up to a lower gear but it does a few hops. I was thinking maybe it could be a misfire?

2. My driver side when i start the car cold, or after a few hours it stars to make a leaky sound, its very in sync with the engine rotating and makes a loud ch ch ch ch sound. It turns out there was a lose bolt/stud on the driver side that snapped off.. my question is what do i need to do to replace it all, i was thinking all studs, manifold gasket? and anything else?

Also i tried looking around the web for a repair manual for the 2007 Ford Sports trac 4.6L V8 to download/buy, does anyone know where to find one? i have had no luck and not sure what real/etc?

Thanks in advance!

Changed coils, plugs, PCM update...didnt help

I just bought mine, 75,000 miles, V8. When i am around 1500 - 2000 RPM and around 40 -45 MPH it seems the trans slips back and forth from one gear to the next. RPM goes up to 2000 than back down to 1500 and sometimes gives me a bit of a shudder. Always under load -say going up a hill-while under slight throttle. I have gotten it to do it with OD on and off.
I had the PCM update last week. Didnt help(I dont know if updating the PCM also updates the TCM).
Changed the plugs and coils. Runs smoother, has more power, still same problem. I disconnected the battery for a while. No change
I am going to change the gas filter next.

Other than that, i too am out of ideas.

Edit: I called the dealer, the TCM is NOT updated when the PCM is, it it a totally different part to be updated. Both need to be updated when trying to fix the shift problem.

I purchased an 08 ST Limited V8 back in 2008, and this was an issue right off the lot... I now have a 2010 ST Adrenalin with the V8, and the tranny is still a little jerky, but they seem to have TRIED to rectify this issue... At least to a point where I can somewhat live with it.

I performed the TSB on my 08, as well as my 2010 and it honestly didn't do much in the long run. Just an FYI.

The TSB states to clear the TCM memory. Is there, in fact, a TCM update which needs to be applied for transmission issues? I am going in circles now both with learning the Ford systems and figuring out the PCM/TCM updates to correct shifting issues.

Change your plugs and coils for the bump. Looking at around 900 bucks in the shop.

As for the manifold stud, you need to pull the manifold, remove any remaining stud. this usualy requires drilling the orignal stud and using an extractor. While you have the manifold off, get it planed, as it is warping, that is what caused the bolt to break. Install the manifold with a new gasket.
