**UPDATE** Odd Shift issue 99 EX Sport

I have an 99 EX Sport, 4.0 SOHC with what I believe is a 5R55E transmission.

I just bought this EX about two weeks ago and I noticed that when shifting from Reverse to Drive there was about a 3-4 second delay before the transmission engaged. There is no delay in reverse.

This morning when I went from Reverse to Drive, I forgot about the delay and I rev'd it. It jumped into drive and took off normally.

Now, whenever I shift it from Park or Reverse to Drive nothing happens unless I rev the motor to about 2K RPMs.
If I shift it to 1 or 2 then shift it to Drive the transmission acts correct.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Now I can only get it to go into Reverse.

Am I screwed or will a fluid and filter change possibly save me?

Update: Got it back from the shop today. They didn't provide too much detail, however they stated it was a total transmission rebuild and the parts price was $900. Total bill was $1800 "ouch"
