Use of 4X4 Engine as Replacement in 4X2 Explorer

I'm looking for any input regarding if it's ok to use a 4X4 type engine (97) in a 4X2 vehicle. (also 97) plan to use all the original wiring/computer from the vehicle (4X2) I realize the 4X4 engine has the balance shaft...didn't think that would make much difference....any issues with structural oil pan connection to the trans? Any comments would be appreciated...Speeddemon101

As far as I know there are the same except for the internal balance shaft. If you can get the non-balance shft motor, that would be great as you now have one less chain and tensioner to worry about...
