ok, today I went and checked out the dealer with the 94 5-speed w/118k miles. They were asking 5900 per web site...told me 4900 when I walked in the door...could prob get for 3500 I am thinking. there is very little rust. The radio is gone, the power mirrors dont work, and it needs a clutch bad. Did not remember to see what axel it had, but it was pretty peppy.
They also had a 96 5-speed on the lot. Drove it. Seemed really good shape. Has75k miles. Axel code was d4 which means 3.73 limited slip right? Nice clean truck. They said it was listed at 10, I could buy it for 8k and after a little talking I think I could get it for 6k-6500.
The thing I DISLIKED was that it seemed to have NO get up and go. Almost like it was set up for towing or something...it crawled out of a stand still. With 3.73's I would not think that was the prob...Any ideas? Again I am not a speed demon....but I like to be first across an intersection.
Monday I am looking at 2 Mountainers with v-8's. 97's. They are each only like 7k. Seems a little low for a 97 with v-8. only thing I can think of is they are really abused, or just cheeper because they are not Fords. I dunno. Anything I need to be afraid of with v-8 mountainer?
Given choice between a 94 with 120k at 4,000 and a 96 with 75 at 6500......which would you choose and why?
