UV joint rattle?// and RR window off track

OK,

I've been noticing that my X has a rattle when I hit the gas hard (anything over 3000 rpm) and it sounds like the UV joint right by my feet. Is this correct, would it make that sound if not replace in a LONG TIME?

And two, after my 12,000 mile warranty just expired from Ford, my right rear window is off track. I can hear the motor running and it will go down but not up. How do I fix this w/o giving Ford the satisfaction of labor $$?

The rattle, need more details, would check the cat shield first..
The RR window, is the motor gear box...The gear is driven by POLY bushing, after a while, they break down and crumble..The fix is alittle tricky..
Get yourself a manual first, and make sure you can do the job...This is what I did...
After removing the track and motor assembly, I took the gear box apart..Cleaned it out very well...Went to the hardware store and purchased 3 3/8 ball bearings, under a $1...Greased the gear, greased the ball bearings, and put them where the poly bushings were..Took about 2 hours to do, but fixed my window for under a $1.
The toughest part of the job was removing the tracking system from the door, if memory serves me right, I had to drill out 4 rivets, and then replace with small nuts/bolts.

But both rear windows and assemblies were replaced in 2000 so I dont think the gear box is worn.

The rattle is NOT the heat shield. I just replaced the O2 sensor and dbl checked that. It literally feels like it is just in front of and under the gas pedal when I hit it, kind of a clinkitty clankatty sound.
