V8 upgrades

Hi I have a 99 xlt v8 and am having trouble finding performance upgrades like a cold air intake. And I was also Wounder if I wanted to rebuild the motor could I use aftermarket mustang pistons or no

I have been told bout torque monster headers by a few guys Around where I live but I have also heard some neg things about them so I'm trying to stay away from them till I can tlk to someone from torque monster personally. Other wise I'm looking to buy anothe motor and rebuild it but have been told the bottom end is different from mustangs cuz I was looking to do pistons and cams in it and maybe do different valves but and not sure on tht one since I have been told the heads are good the way they are so Idk

The explorer 5.0 is balanced different then a regular 5.0. At lest that is what I understand. Torque monster headers are the way to go. The only negative thing I can think of about them is that it is very hard to get a hold of the people that make them.

I heard tht to but I also heard from other ppl tht they don't perform like they claim I'd like to make a little more power and maybe add a supercharger but I can't even find one of those. Thts y I came here is cuz I was told this was the best place to learn from. So more then Likely if I want different pistons im gonna have to get custom ones to fit

you can use mustang pistons if you want. boring a 302 is boring a 302. like R1dd1cK said, the balancers on a explorer is different then a mustang, but the cams, heads and intake are basically the same (i have a stock fox body mustang cam in my truck). there are a few guys here that have done full 347 strokers in there explores as well. best thing is a cai, headers, and a custom tune from hensonperformace.com. blowers are hard to come by, and if you do find one, you will have to settle for a used one, or get a custom turbo set up done.

I was also told tht a bully dog programer mine not be a bad way to go programer wise cuz of the the towing setting as well as having other power setting loaded in it
