Vents don't work, ONLY defroster! Stopped working after trying to fix blend door! ???

I just read a thread about a quick fix for the blend door since mine is bad. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=183742

It works, but ever since doing so now only my defroster works! I was really careful when cutting and no vacuum line are cut or fallen off. Why would only defroster vents work and nothing else?? I checked fuses and they are good. Its to dark out now to look at it more but I will look at it some more tomarrow.

I just noticed today only my vents work and only the defroster works a little bit it switches on and off fine but when u put the control on anny setting it only blows out of the vent.Does anyone know why this would happen

The internal vacuum lines in the dashboard are made out of plastic, and could crack easily. They usually break near the connection on the servo vacuum piston.

It sounds to me that I have a vacuum problem...But its just so weird how I cut into the HVAC box and now this happens, maybe its just coisidence or did I do something I wasnt suppost to? Thinking back, the knife did slip once and it may have barely cut a vacuum line. I highly doubt it is a cut because I have already looked over the lines. I will be checking tomarrow to make sure though....

Yes. Just remove the part that broke, and plug the rest of the tube into the rubber connector on the servo.

Well its fixed! Well, there was really nothing wrong with it. Just a STUPID brain fart! I went out this moring and started the X up and walla, it worked! Last night I forgot to start it up to get vacuum to it! DUH! Oh well, it was a really long day yesterday and well uhhhhhhhhhhh.

Thanks for the update! So it sounds like you were trying to use the A/C or the heater with the engine off, and couldn't get anything to blow out of the vents other than the defrost? Is this what happened?

yup! I was playing with the controls when it was off and there must not have been any more vacuum in the lines and then when I cut into the HVAC box to close the blend door it couldnt go out of defrost mode.
