Hi all, been frequenting these forums for a couple months now since I got the truck. You guys seem really knowledgeable, & this place has been incredibly useful so far! Granted I'm only 21.

-5R55E, 99 XLT 4.0l sohc w/ 130K miles, no mods. I would really appreciate an opinion on what to do. Thanks in advance!

Anyway, there's been an intermittent & hard thunk from 1st-2nd(?), as well as some vibrations when accelerating from a stop, especially while turning hard. Every once in a while, it also will have a delayed hard shift into 2nd, then abruptly yet smoothly shift into 3rd. I'm not sure if the first two are related, but all of these issues only seem to occur after heavy/long driving. Otherwise it shifts great.

-There's been a slow fluid leak on the transmission pan, and the dipstick reads about 3/4 full. I don't think there's any loose nuts either, but I'll have to check those again. They were very slightly loose when I bought it.

-From what I've read, apparently being low on coolant somehow may be related, but I am not low on that at all. Actually its a little high, and has a mild brown tinge but nothing intense. Oil looks completely fine. This might be a dumb question, but could the coolant be mixing with the trans fluid in some way??? In turn causing it to overheat, & trigger FMEM (referencing an old post by Glacier991)
Your HARSH shift are likely a computer commanded thing called failure management effects mode (FMEM). An overheated trannie can trip this.... and also cause your leaking... I suspect something is causing you to overheat.

Other theories so far-
Bad VB or pan seal, replace filter & trans fluid, or check/replace the necessary solenoid

Like i said, I'd really appreciate any inputs or past experiences. :)
