ok guys, recently (in the last 4-6 weeks) my truck has seemed a lil "off." i kinda feel a slight vibration in the pedal when accelerating, but it doesnt always do it - it does it most of the time though. also, sometimes when idle (i.e.: at a red light), ill feel a vibration throughout the truck & can feel it through the seat, but it doesnt really do it when the trucks warm, usually only when the trucks cold.

i know these are pretty vague descriptions, but its tough to describe this type of thing. my truck is going to the dealer on wednesday, because hopefully whatever it is will be under warranty (and theyre also doing inspection.)

a friend of mine suggested it might be a tranny mount?

i dunno, i wanted to hopefully get some suggestions here before i take it to the dealer, because we all know...well...dealer mechanics stink.

thanks all.

bump. c'mon guys, no one as anything for me to suggest to the dealer when i drop it off? well, it goes in on wednesday, and im sure theyre not gonna find anything (they never do), but maybe someone will have a tip for me before then.

Things i can think of..
IAC?
Throttle Body?
Bad Gas?
I switched to premium and everything went away mostly, and the iac was cleaned with carb cleaner

Well have you had all those SOHC TSB's done to it?

Intake manifold O-rings?

Cam tensioner?

Well I know that my explorer vibrates a whole lot more than my friend's 4runner. When sitting in the X when its not moving you can tell its on by the vibrations. In my friends 4runner you can't feel a thing. I want my X to feel like that when its not moving.

I understand what you mean. Mine use to vibrate pretty bad at idle. Now it does it very little after working on the FPR. It's practically impossible to keep it from idling rough with all the factors involved.

The 4.0 V6 is notorious for rough idle. There's no fix for it. If you are feeling a more noticable rattle then it could be a loose motor mount or tranny mount. Look under the truck at the tranny cross member. Tighten them up if they are loose. Mine came from the factory with any nut at all so it free floated for about 20k. That's always nice.

yeah, i had all that stuff done; maybe it needs one of those tsbs done again, but oh well.

i wouldnt exactly call the problem a "rough idle." it actually idles nicely, its just that there'll be a vibration thatll last a few seconds, and it only happens at different intervals, and it doesnt even do it all the time, though it does do t most of the time); so i dont think its idle related, it seems to me that something is just lil out of whack.

thanks guys, now i have some stuff to think about and to mention to the service writer (though im sure theyll say they didnt find anything just because theyre too damn lazy and/or incompetent to try to look and/or fix the problem.)

Tbomb-- we have alot of the same problems every time i search about a problem i have you have it too. Yours sounds like mine. My idle is very steady but i still get a vibration run through the car every once and a while.
