Dear Forum!

When I started my 99 Explorer this saturday the "little yellow engine"-symbol (engine electronics warning) showed up and it stayed illuminated.
The engine runs smoothly as ever. Maybe the idle was a bit uneven at a few times, but generally everything worked a normal.

The symbol is still there today. And engine function seems to be normal.

What's this? Any suggestions?

We had some rough nights with temperatures of -20 centigrade (-4 F) but on saturday it was warmer, maybe -8 centigrade (17,6 F).
Can the cold have caused some problems?

Best regards

It is the "Service Engine Soon" light.

The red Check Engine Light demands that you get to a shop quickly. The yellow light means theres a problem, but you don't have to rush to the shop - just need to make an appointment soon. You will probably see a drop in fuel mileage - usually the computer is in Limp Mode when this light is on.

Get it scanned to see what codes are in it

Yes go to AutoZone and have the code read for free. If the engine is still running good, it could be a leaky intake manifold gasket like mine, not bad to fix P0171 and P0174 I suspect... usually turns up in the colder months.
