91 eddie bauer
I have a 91 Eddie Bauer that i purchased a month ago. Now the pervious owner didn't take care of her too much, but i think i can bring her back and beyond. But like i said not much care on his part but slowly i'm fixing her up. now my problem right now is everytime i start her up it seems very weak. now i would like her to start up quick and stong. I did the plugs (omg i think they were original because....damn!) so I was wondering if someone knew what i should replace.

What do you mean weak starting? Does that mean slow cranking? or no power after starting???

Need more details.

How old is the battery? If the previous owner never did much maintenance, I imagine the battery cables were never changed. They are very suceptible to internal rotting on the first generation Ex's. If they look old, change them. That simple fix will cure alot of problems. You may also want to read the info on the Singleton Maintenance site. There is a link to it in the Useful Threads forum. Definitely a bookmark site, especially for the owners of '91-'94 Explorers.

Step 1: Examine battery cables
Step 2: Have battery checked
Step 3: Have alternator checked
Step 4: Have starter checked
Step 5: Replace starter solenoid relay (cheap replacement, no way to really check the old one)

If nothing's fixed the problem yet, you may have a wiring issue somewhere, you could have a bad ignition control module, ECU, etc. But start with those 5 basic things, chances are its one of them.
