Title: Weed-sprayer method of topping off transmission fluid easily without losing fluid
I got the below 1gallon Chapin weed-sprayer. (Usually they are $10bucks, but that model is currently unavailable at amazon...) I put Merc-V in it. From use with ATF+4 on another vehicle I know that 400seconds of spraying equates to one quart.
Anyway, the idea is you can release the trigger, pull the sprayer away just an inch from the fill hole, and get IMMEDIATE feedback as to whether you are topped off or not by whether any fluid dribbles down onto the floor. This makes for a much easier and quicker top-off procedure.
From my calculations, assuming I drive 10,000 miles per year, I can go 7.4weeks before I have to add 0.25quarts. So, when I am daily-driving it, I will probably top it off every 7-8 weeks, which isn't too bad.
