Hey everyone. Recently I changed the Evaporator Core of my 2000 Explorer XLT (SOHC) since it had a leak, and also fixed the acuator door by gluing it, so the AC always recirculated (it was broken and only worked with outside air). Now, this SUV has always had a Vacuum problem where Max AC the air would come out from the vents, so only way to operate was with AC. The mechanic supposedly fixed this problem, but no go.

With MAX AC, the air will take a while to get into the cabin, like 2 seconds. You can hear the fan and after sometime the air starts flowing. The thing is, like before, when accelerating strongly the air will come out from the vents. In AC this problem doesn't happen, like before... BUT... this is the weird part. After a while of being operating, the cold air will stop flowing and only warm air will flow. I need to turn off the AC for about a minute, then on, and usually the cold air will flow. The alternative is to turn the AC in Max AC and strongly accelerate, usually this will make the air flow cooler.

I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this. Is it vacuum-related as well? I can hear a hissing sound from the evaporator/AC container area but I figured that was from the evaporator itself being turned off and the refrigerator working its way back. Any suggestions? This has me crazy, and the 95+ temps are killing me :P. Thanks for any help!

Ok it seems it isn't vacuum related. I parked the car when the AC turned off again and saw the compressor clutch not spinning. I gave it one or two gentle taps with a screwdriver, and to my surprise the clutch engaged.....

Is it related to a relay or do I need to replace the clutch?

I am following this guide:

As the Clutch-Compressor spacing seems to be the issue. Thing is... Clutch won't engage when car is in ON position and AC is turned on. It just keeps spinning making it impossible for me to release the bolt. What the heck am I supposed to do :p
