HI, I just washed my car and after I was finished I pulled it out of the shop and started to drive I have auto climate control, and when the car was warmed up the heat came on as usual, but for some reason it is making this noise that I can only describe as a fast click, like the noise you hear from a computer when it is processing something. This noise comes from the passenger side under the glove box area. Could some water gotten into the system, and froze causing things to chatter because there is loose ice in there?

thats the only thought I had, as it happened after I washed my truck.

It is like 10 degrees F. today where I'm at if that makes a differece

It could be cold related but it definitely sounds like something got onto one of your fans.

Sounds like the noise I've been experiencing every morning (auto climate control set to 72-75 degrees) when I start the car. If my ACC isn't set to 70 or higher, or is off, when I turn it up or turn it on, I hear the noise. Only started hearing it once temp dropped below 45 degrees or so, but I've also only used my ACC for heat since we've hit this temp, too. Reading through forums, it sounds like a control blend arm issue (a mechanism that mixes air from different sources to control cabin temp... common problem on previous generation explorer's and an expensive fix from what I've read... approx. $1K). I started another thread about it (search "control blend arm 2003"), but no one's been able to give me any information about it. If you hear anything, or find anything else out, please let me know. For now, my heat's working, so it's a non-issue. But I've read that it either gets stuck on hot or cold, and the other doesn't work once it's stuck. I haven't tested my A/C (it's in the single digits), so I don't know if it's truly stuck on heat. Keep me informed, and I'll do the same :)

Well It makes the sound every once in a while for me only when the truck is ICE cold (it hasn't gotten higher than 5 degrees here the past few days when the noise started, in fact its so cold they canceled all area schools) once the truck warms up a little the sound goes away completely, so I'm guessing it's just a reaction from parts that are not usually subjected to such extreme cold. everything works as normal and the sound goes away after about five minutes, so I really can't complain, this is most definately the best vehicle I've ever owned. I mean I'm 18 with an 03 mountaineer loaded with everything possible, god I love high school co op programs.

I can't complain either... my heat is working perfectly (great for this morning, when it was 3 degrees with a -15 wind chill). Funny, area schools are closed here, too... when I lived in NH, we never stayed home for bitter cold. You'd think they'd be used to it here in central/upstate NY. Oh well, here's to hoping that we both just have cars that aren't enjoying the cold any more than we are and it'll all go away once spring rolls around. Later...
