I have a 98 Eddie Bauer edition Explorer. Got it in April from Texas and it's really never seen the cold. It's starting, in colder mornings, to have a squealing noise which starts out when I first start driving it, if I back off the accelerator, it drops off and then it stops after the car's been running a while. Not sure what it is. Many theories abound, bearings, breaks, belts, anybody out here have this before and can answer?

sounds like belts but id think it could just be from the cold

could be a pulley going south. Take off your belt when its cold and spin all the pulleys.

Not a bad idea to change the idler and tensioner pulley as preventive maintenance, there are random cases where they go bad and leave you stranded.
