Back in an Explorer for the first time in a long time...and totally by coincidence, here's what happened...

In Nov 2010, I bought a white 1998 Explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC 4x4 with 135k miles - for $1800.
In Nov 2020, I bought a white 2008 Explorer XLT 4.0L SOHC 4x4 with 130k miles - for $4800.

Well, technically it's October 31, but you know...

This one is more for the wife - and there's a little kid riding in it also, but just like 10 years ago I'm still worried about
timing chains and transmissions. It might see some trail duty up in northern MI, but that's not for a while yet.

Such cool trucks...glad to be back

Welcome to the forum & welcome back to an Explorer.

Welcome
Does it rattle on startup

Welcome to the forum & welcome back to an Explorer.
Notifced the 4wd/4cyl Escape in your profile. How is it? Decent off-road? I was looking for one of those before I found the Explorer - but always had sunroofs - which meant i didn't have enough head room. I still dig them...

MatteoLC, when we purchased the Escape it was for my wife as her DD. We purchased the 99 Explorer Sport as a spare vehicle but she likes the body on frame style of the 99 Sport better then the uni-body car like design of the Escape, since the Sport sits higher & has more front interior room & the front seats are way more comfortable in the Sport, the Escape became our spare vehicle. We never took the Escape off road but it does very well in the snow. The Escape has 114K miles & has been pretty much trouble free.

You couldn't pry my wife's 99 xlt from her cold dead fingers just saying
