Westin Safari Bar

that is my second safari bar. the first one got ran into by an old lady so i just cut one of the tabs off and welded it right in the middle. and i just used the hardware the hellas came with to mount it. and no i dont have them wired to just one switch. i have the two outsides wired to one and the middle light wired to another. here is a pic of where i mounted my two switches. they are mounted in the overhead console where something like a garage door opener would normally be.

Nope. didnt raise the bumpers and no i did nothing to bar either. i thought it looked fine the way it was so i left it. do you not think so? tell me otherwise. thanks.

Hokie I'm doing the same lift as you on the 1st of Nov and I already have the westin safari bar on mine. It is a no holes drilled bolt on but I can let you know what if any modifacations I have to do to the brackets to make it look right after the lift???

I looked it that as well, but ended up going with a Tal and Hadas Bar instead.
I didn't get the light guards or the optional skid plate, and it ended up looking the most like an ARB bar of anything else I have seen.
This is on an 03 XLT, and with the mounts coming through the hole punchouts for fog lights, it didn't affect the approach angle at all.
I just got a set of PIAA lights mounted to the bar as well, and will try and get some pics posted next week.

That looks awesome...I'm going to have to copy you as soon as I get the bar! Did you do it yourself? How hard was it?

it wasnt too hard justalot of measuring to get the tab centered and in line with the other two. i then ran the wire for the third light the same way i did for the other two (through a grommet in the firewall and then up into the driver side A pillar across behind the overhead liner and drilled two holes for the switches to be mounted. pretty simple. yeah i just felt like being creative one day and decided to do it and it worked out fine.

Thats very nice and clean. I thought about doing that for my KC switch, I might still. For now its just down by my pedals.

i have to get one!!

Wish they made it for the 1st gen x. That's the bar that I really wanted. I geuss it really wouldn't work with a winch though.

why dont you guys hide your switches in the ash tray?

I don't have an ash tray in my 97 (unless you count that thingy in the cup holder where I hide my golden nuggets). :) Happy holidays all and hope Father Christmas washes and waxes your X for ya.

is there a reason you could not install it on a 1st gen? Couldn't you just drill mounting holes where you needed them for the bar and mount it?

oh i see, thats no good (about the lack of ash tray for switch hiding ;) ) yea i would think you could mount it on a first gen. they dont actually make one for a 95 either but i drilled my frame for it

I geuss you could do that, but here lately I have really been thinking about putting on a winch. I have a buddy out here that is a really good faber and I am going to see if he will build me a bumper. I think that would be better.

definately would want something made to mount a winch or made to mount a winch first and foremost then worry about a bar up front
