OK...I asked something similar to this before, but got no real answer. I am replacing a JL 12w6. I loved the way this sub sounded. Great SQ and pretty good SPL. I am looking at getting about the same SQ with a little more SPL if possible. The three subs I'm looking at are: Alpine Type-R, a/d/s 312rs.2, and the 12w6v2. These range in price from about $100 to $300. What's my best bet so that I am not dissapointed??

Thanks in advance.
Shaun

If ya loved the JL stick with it, ive heard good things about the new V2's. If ya get a good price on it get it!!! also why ya replacing the old one?

It finally fried. I don't want the same w6...time for some change...the only thing that turns me away from the w6v2 is price.

the origanal W6 is no way like the new W6v2. The new W6v2 is call the baby W7 as It shares a lot of the same technoligy that went into the W7. I would go for the W6v2. I have a W3 and love it.

I have heard really good things about all 3 of those subs, So I think whatever you choose will be great. My old roomate had 3 alpine type Rs in the trunk of his grand prix, not sure how just 1 would sound, but the 3 pounded really well, and hardly needed any power.

btt

what kind of amp will power your sub?

Actually...I already ordered my sub...I went with this Audiobahn.

definately sweet thats the 06, awesome sound q and SPL i heard....I am going to get an 05 ultra excursion 15"

lets see the finished product when done!!!!

never actually heard an a/d/s in person, but everyone absolutely raves about their sound quality and their ability to absolutely poun in a 40hz tuned vented box. I think there is an article in Auto Sound and Security in the October or November issue and some guy has an SQ system in his car and they say that wen the volume is turned up the subs pound. I would lean that way, however, I have heard the w6v2's and even though they are pricy, to say they are the baby w7 is literally an understatement....they absolutely blow away the competition whe put in a sealed box in a hatchback system. Sooo nice. I would lean towards those subs, good luck, and let us know how it sounds.

thats one pretty sub!

you should have waited to buy your sub......for SQ and SPL = KICKER!!! either the L5 or L7, the only drawback is that if you bought the square sub, you'd have to get a new front to your box if you ever wanted to go round again.......but i doubt that

the spl comes from the square design, the square surface allows the sub to move more air, a 12" square sub will push the equivalent of a 15" sub

...and distort proportionally more as well. i think you made the best choice! personally i dislike the alpines, and the kickers, but i think most other brands make quality subs and you pretty much get what you pay for unless you buy a sub that has a ton of hype (like a w7 but in that case your also in a way paying for the hype) how much did that beautiful specimen cost you? are you going to try and mount it differently than your old set-up to show it off? i hope you have it in for that get together, its coming up pretty soon.

btw- we're still planning on fixing my center console lid right? it actually chipped now so i have green spots on it. uggh.

You'll be very happy with that Audiobahn sub, those are what I'm looking at for my next system when I get my 02' Mounty, too much of a pain in the azz to rip my system out of the 94' and then my sister wouldn't have a stereo.

The Flame Q series are sick, excellent sq and excellent spl. A little expensive, but definitley worth the money.

Is that a 12"? If you hooked it up already, how does it sound?

He should get it today, I know SSIKORA and I have been AIMing alot, because I am waiting for my new A1300HCQ to get here, which will be here today. I think we decided that his sub and my amp have been on the same plane/truck all the way from California :D

So far...this sub sounds great. Great SPL and SQ....seeming a little better than my W6 but then again I have been without that for a couple weeks, and this one is running at 2ohms mono compared to 3. I definately recommend this one....I can tell I need a bigger amp, but even with only throowing about 380w at it now, it pounds.

SaleenEXP...These subs are not really that expensive...if you want one, let me know, the place I got it from it is $127.

are you serious? you did get the Flame Q series, right?

All the shops and electronics stores and even crtuchfield want from $280 - $300 for a 10" incher, and a 12" is around $330.

Hook me up bro where you got that Sub, you paid less than the lower 10" Audiobahn Excursion series.
Thanks:D

you've got mail

I definately love this sub, sounds really clean, hits very tight, and you can definately feel the bass more than with my JL. I am very happy with this purchase....and I could have bought 3 of these for basically the same price I would have got 1 12w6v2.

I plan on making a custom set-up in spring, as of now, I have it mounted in a regular tapered, recessed face box. I want to do something that looks nice, but really have no available time right now.

As for the console lid....what do you mean it's chipped?? The acutual plastic part??

hmmm, i may be interested in one of those at that price too. anybody want to buy an he2 dvc 12?

the vinyl paint stuff is chipping off. the interior paint looks great, but it won't work right on the center console if you lean on it all the time.
