What are these tubes / lines for?

My truck wouldnt start the other day and while diagnosising the cause I came across some metal tubes that have been rusted in half. They are roughtly about a half inch each and both have a have a plastic fitting connected to them. They run along the driverside and the connection is about 6 inches behind the fuel tank just past the rear wheel. I thought they were fuel lines but they were bone dry and a fuel pump resolved the starting problem. Any ideas as to what they are for?

The lines in question are the ones with the brown and green connectors. They are like a hard plastic line that connect to metal lines that run along the frame. The metal lines have completely rusted threw leaving them both broken in half

w/out a pic it's hard to say, but I'm guessing fuel evaporation system hoses/lines. If they have holes in them you should have a check engine light on, as they are part of the emissions system. They typically would not prevent your engine from running unless they're creating a huge vacuum leak.

After doing some more searching I believe you are correct in that that are the fuel vapor tubes for the EVAP system. I do currently have a CEL but it believe it is for one of the banks running lean which couldve been due to the fuel pump. I have checked online and Ford no longer makes/supplies these. I doubt that I will have much luck finding something in a junk yard that isnt in just as bad shape. Would it be ok to reconnect the metal tubing with rubber hose and clamps?

that should work as those tubes only have vapor in them no liquid. if i remember right, One tube goes from the gas tank vent into the vapor canister, and i think the other goes to an evap purge valve that is under the battery.
