Hi,

Looking for suggestion of a device I can connect into the factory Mach head unit (with CD changer)on my 2000 Limited that will allow Bluetooth connectivity from a mobile device into trucks audio system. I am not interested in a tape adapter.

Thanks

There is a way to tap into the CD input lines to run an aux cable. But your best bet is to run an FM tuner.
I ran the tape adapter for years. Had no issues with it.
If you insist on bluetooth, FM transmitter with bluetooth.

I tried the Plantronics K100 which has an FM transmitter and bluetooth. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! The static on any of the FM channels (tried all of the ones available on the device) had very noticeable static - returned it an hour later.

Any instructions on tapping into the CD input lines for an AUX cable?

Thank You!

It's more work than you think. I had a cheap, like $9.99, FM Tuner that worked wonderfully. Maybe you just got a bad one. Usually 88.1-88.9 work the best.

What are you trying to say--that NPR and christian stations are weak? ;)

YMMV on the FM adapters, and on the station availability. In the Detroit area there are literally NO gaps across the FM dial and that makes it hard for any FM wireless transmitter to work well. Especially since the FCC requires them to be so weak they barely can transmit from the power socket to the radio--1 foot!

I have a thread right next to this one asking about the iSimple ISFM2351 which goes in-line with the antenna lead and interrupts it so local stations can't overwhelm the transmitter. No replies yet :-/
I have tried 3 portable bluetooth/FM adapters and all sucked. I'm trying this thing next.

Wow, that's odd.
I'm in Toronto where we pick up so many stations it's crazy..
Basically, we get Buffalo stations too.

Ever consider purchasing an aftermarket radio with bluetooth or aux in, it would really make a world of a difference for you.

The HU is fine for my needs and I really like the steering wheel controls.

Hmm, to wire up an Aux in, you have to tap in right before the CD changer. There's a guide for it here somewhere, it requires a bit of work and a power source to make the radio think the CD player is on, then tapping into the left and right channel outputs from the CD player.
If you do it right, the flick of the switch will allow you to switch between CD and Aux in, otherwise, you lose the CD changer, which you may not care about anyway if it doesn't work.
