what do the special vehicle abbreviations mean?

I know on my old Pontiac 6000 STE, the STE stood for Special Touring Edition, it had ABS,ERC,AMR,FI. it was the car with too many letters.

ABS was supposed to have been available in 86, Mine ain't got it.

ERC, amounts to self-leveling rear suspension- Electronic Ride Control keeps the ass from dragging.

AMR-Acoustically Matched Response speakers and radio, not so matched now that 16 years of sun has taken it's toll on the front's and were replaced.

FI fuel injection.

What are the main differences between the XLS and the XLT? Is the XLS the same as an XL in a sense?

XLS was the base model on newer explorers, XL was the old base model.

SE means Special Edition

SS means Super Sport

options abbreviations mean the following:

SRS - Supplimental Restraint System (Air Bags)

ABS - Anti- Lock Braking System

ERC - Electronic Ride Control

EFI - Electronic Fuel Injection

CTIS (Hummer's) - Central Tire Inflation System

thats all i can think of off the top of my head. if you have any more you want to know, just post or something?

svo is now frt

svo is now frt, which stands for ford racing team. and i don't think lx stands for luxury. it's a base model. by the way, the "lx" mustang was originally called the sport. just a quick stang fact =).
