I was wondering what kind of stuff people carry with them during the winter?

Along with all my tools and such i carry the following;

Shovel
Bag of sand
one of those fold up traction aids
extra food and clothing

thats pretty much all i carry thats different that what i usually have. Ive always have a tow strap with me and a first a kit.

I took off my Cobras and my front bumper. I have another front bumper that I use for the winter. I always have some extra clothes and a hat and gloves for work in there. And not matter what season it is... I always have my cell phone.

Take off the 20s and toss the stocks on good thing this year there was a grand total of 4 snowy days :D

Throw the snowboard racks on!

Plus I carry around a Burton Rippey, some boots, gloves.. all the basics! :D

I wish there was more I needed to do. We don't get much snow here. I have to drive to it.

Ice scraper
Gloves
Block heater cord untied

Not much else....I wish it was snowing here:(

2 pairs of gloves, hats, boots, folding shovel, fold out tracks, and a quart of 2 stroke oil. I think I might air down a bit. At 50 psi and 10 degrees them tires are like rocks.:)

Last week when it snowed here these are the steps I took.

1. Flipped the switch from 2wd to auto 4wd

I didn't know there was anything else I was supposed to do!

OK take the advice of the rescue monkey.
WATER
2 pair dry socks (deffinately)
some kind of non parishable food (i use MRE's)
Flares (at least 6)
utility knife of some kind
waterproof matches
TOW STRAP (suprised nobody mentioned this one)
First aid kit
Jumper cables
Gloves
A spare warm coat
Dry clothes
Boots
Flash light

There are a bunch more things but that is what should really be required.
BTW NO HOOKS on the tow strap. Steel caribeeners are handy though.

I just did an oil change, changed the valve cover gaskets, plugs, wires, air filter, etc, just to make sure the truck is in excelent running condition. The u joints are getting replaced next week, so the 4x4 should be in real good working order. Of course as for stuff I carry, there is another thread somewhere.....

In the unlikely event that I should experience "snow", I would go South at Mach 1.:D

I hope it snows in FL this year... :D lol

Ok you guys ! this is what you need in a real winter place !

shovel
gloves ( spare)
chocolat bar ( gives you energy )
blanket ( thick)
tow strap
tool box
flares
traction aid
block heater
cabin eater

when you r stuck in a winter snowstorm ( not the one that you get sometimes you guys) real one with wind and -20s temp. You realy need all that.

I always carry a few blankets, some clothes, some food, and various tools and recovery gear. In Texas the temp can go from 80 to 40 in a single day, and below that at night, even in the summer it can get down to 45 or so in the country (late summer).

i usually go out and le the truck warm up.

but i try to have

jumper cables
blankets
coats
water
extra anitfreeze
cat litter

and i cant think of anything else right now

not like we get much snow up here the DFW area

i dont do a damn thing....it NEVER snows in south georgia..totally sucks. I freakin wore shorts like 3 days ago, how ridiculous is that.

Who cares,,,, anything to avoid the cold......

And I have to go to Atlanta on Thursday, yuck,

chocolat bar ( gives you energy )
Nothing personal but that is not a good idea. A "power bar" would be a good alternative. Sugar gives you energy for a very short time. You also will then become thirsty. Although most people dont understand this you DO get dehydrated in the cold. Eating snow DOES NOT cure this. Trust the monkey

A chocolate bar wouldnt last one trip in my car. If I knew there was one in there, I would have to eat it. :)
