Right, as long as its not windy. Its been in the teens all week up here in NY. I work outside in the woods and dont move around all that much (surveyor). Its fine until that damn wind kicks up.

I got my new rear axle today with 4.10 gears itll be a big upgrade from the 3.27s now that ill have 4wd again snow shouldnt be much of a worry any more. :) i cant wait to try out the 33s and 4wd in some really deep snow.

The only thing I add is an extendable snow brush/ice scraper. Otherwise I live in the city, what's the worst that can happen?

Although in a big storm, it has been known to sometimes take up to two whole days before EVERY street gets plowed. I trust that 4x4 will get me through those harrowing hours.

section525, that is a wicked picture of ur X. i need a board rack....i always fold my seat down to fit my big old Burton Custom 160. Other than my board I carry jumper cables, money, cell phone, Torque Wrench (i have the worst fear of losing my wheels after it happened once), and burton gloves and a hat :)

Throw the snowboard racks on!

I'd have to agree w/that, only ski racks ;) Now, all i need is skis, hmmmm

Well, seeing as snow is such a big problem in my hometown, I usually take many drastic steps to prepare for the winter strikes...

Ummm, nevermind. I'm in Atlanta :D

i think im gonna go down the local tire shop and see if i can get some studs for my rear tires since there pre-drilled. other than that i make sure i have the tow strap already attached to the hitch for easy access.

Rain X deicer in the windshield (and rear) fluid resevours. This stuff is GREAT. It melts the snow/ice and gives you rain X like performance without the sore shoulder.

I I have another front bumper that I use for the winter

A brush guard?

No, another front bumper. Heres some pics...
Summer bumper...

Winter bumper... Its just another stock bumper that I picked up from someone on here.

Its easier to just take off the whole bumper than take off the lights and airdam and then put the stock stuff back on it. Much quicker and easier with just 4 bolts. Besides, aiming those dual lamps PIAAs is a royal PITA.

I figured. It was suppose to be a joke. Ground effects and 20's in the summer. Stock rims, brushguard and the 10" hitch in the winter. You gotta dress for protection.

I just saw that pic on a snow thread.

Well here's what I carry up here in Alaska!!

I have a plastic container w/lid that most of this goes in so I can pull it out of the garage and toss it in the back. Some of the other stuff I have located in the wheel well compartment and keep it there.

Road flares
MRE (3 ea)
Tow Strap
Jumper Cables
Bottle of Quick Charge (for battery)
Snow Bibs
Bunny Boots (Military Mickey Mouse Boots Extreme Cold)
Two Pair of Socks
Emergency flashlight
One of those Silver Blankets
Entrenching Tool
Ice melt
Antifreeze
Water
Gloves, Knit cap, Baklava

I also have a survival can my son made up for an arctic survival class I can't remember all that's in it:
1 Old coffee can w/lid
A Whistle-compass-thermometer-match holder All-IN-1
50' nylon cord
2 Plastic Lawn Bags
Package of cocoa & koolaid
1 fat stick candle
A signal mirror

I also run an extension cord inside pvc to a stand I made to plug my car into.

For the car:

Autostart Installed so that it starts the truck every 2.5 hrs and runs for 15 minutes or whenever the temp gets below 0 degrees. I still have to set this.

Block Heater
Ice scraper/brush
Winter windshield wiper blades
31x10.5 studded tires
Fresh oil change
check radiator and add antifreeze for colder temps

For me:

I carry lock de-icer on my key chain

Lets see what did I forget, Im sure there's something

how bout a bible...if you get stuck up in alaska that's the only hope you have left.

i love it...artic survival class...

Doug, you have a "foldable traction device"?
Hmmmm, what to do during snow, roughly 500lbs (overkill, I know) several tow straps, d-rings, shovel, winter clothing, change of clothes, chains, and anything else I can fit in the truck, then again, my winter list doesn't vary much from my summer list:D

I need to get some of the folding traction devices.

It might seem overkill to some but I drove to Fairbanks last winter and hit a white out and I had to wait it out sitting in my truck for 3 hrs. I put a movie in and passed the time. Thank god for the mobile tv/vcr.

Nearest town was 85-90 miles away and then it was so dinky no services just a dozen or so houses. Its a 5 hr drive in the summer and the road goes right through the Denali National Park.
