I had the 'Door Ajar' light often/always on.
I watched a YOuTube about this year, the wires in the door loom were too short and break.
If you have never found the fix. I can just about guarantee, inside that flexible rubber cover for the wires, is at least one broken wire!

I took it all apart, sure enough! The large black ground for nearly everything in the door, and another wire.
I'm fixing/slicing that- no problem.

What the hell is this round blue plug go to that was in the door, up near the top/rear of the door?
I can't find anywhere it would go to. Is it extra?

No one has seen this plug before?

No one has seen this plug before? What's it's for? TIA

If you watch that video you attached (at 10:55 in the video) you will see that connector. It is a junction that runs to the door latch switch. It may be where the keyless entry push button control ties in to the circuit (I am not sure).

Thank you! I see it now!
Too Bad it's already back together! Quick fix if I need to hook it back up- I'm going out to check it now! The keyless entry was working before.

AND

I FIXED the 'Door Ajar' light!! I didn't bother with checking the switch like he did, or lubing it.
I went right at the wire loom like he shows in the door jam.
Sure enough, 2 wires broke, including the large common black ground. Spliced some wire in, viola!
It's so nice doing things yourself. Thank God for that video, I NEVER would have looked there!!
I hope others with the 'door ajar light are seeing this!

* UPDATE*

Funny, I didn't take the blue plug off when I was getting into the door!

Everything still works! The Key Fob, The keyless entry, etc.

** I figured out what it does!
It locks all, or unlocks all when you manually put the key in the door! That's it.
Not worth going back in for that.
I just put it on CL, 4x4 ELT, 104K miles, 4.6 V8 2003Explorer XLT.
