I see alot of people using the metal blitz cans when going off road, but I wanted to use a smaller one that could go in my roof basket.I've seen trucks with a couple of smaller ones mounted on the basket, like 2 or 2-1/2 gallon, they appear to be standard poly gas containers are these safe enough to mount up top and leakproof?I see blitz makes these smaller ones also.
thanks

I carried 2 2.5 gallon plastic cans for a long time in my basket without any problems, other than mileage loss due to the wind.

As long as the container is approved for fuel use, it is appropriate to put up there. Just make sure it is really secure....

what cranky said..... however, as approved by federal law now, metal gas cans are no longer being made... but if you do happen to find them, you can still purchase them and use them with no legal reprocussions.....

Thanks guys, just wanted to be sure it was ok to use the poly containers up top safely
