What is this noise?

I have a noise/vibration coming from the front when I turn the wheels all the way to either side and move. It happens more in reverse than forward. I hear a drowning noise and feel it in the wheel.
It is not the p/s pump. It almost feels like I have a locker and there is binding. I have a V8 AWD with 114000. Any thoughts.

Hi it might be your 4x4 locking up

check your front differential.... just figured that one out the hard way.. had to gear lube in it so it wound up destroying all the bearings so i had to pull the whole thing off and replace..

How do you check the level in the front diff? I do not have any leaks is there another place it can go?

Could be wheel bearing or CV joints.
