Just curious what part wears out, and of course if that one part can be replaced, of if everything as a unit has to be replaced.

I know the manual hubs are an alternative, but I would like to consider repairing the automatic ones if possible. It never goes off road, just winter driving.

Does anyone have a blowup (no pun intended) diagram of the auto hub assembly?

If you were to look into the center of the hub all the way at the bottom, there is a bearing there with a clip holding it in place.

Remove the clip, and the bearing will slide out. I took the part # off the bearing and called NAPA. They cross-referenced the # and sold me a replacement.

As I recall, there are two different bearings that a cross-reference will provide: a sealed bearing and one that is not sealed. Either one will work.

Good Luck

OK, I found a link for you:

Dead Link Removed

This should answer all your questions.

So you can take this bearing out without removing all the autolock hub stuff?

I thought you had to remove the plastic cam thing, the ring behind it, then the clip, and finally the bearing. I'm only going on what I have read todate.

A diagram of this assembly would help shed some light on it.

If I can just replace the bearing, I would take that approach. The vehicle is not used for off road, so I can't see investing in manual hubs IF I can replace the bearings. Of course, if the auto hubs are wrecked, then manual ones will be swapped in.

Mark.
